About Karen
Karen is a Partner in our Hong Kong office, working closely with the Shenzhen and BVI offices. Karen leads our Hong Kong Private Wealth team and is also a Council Member of the Law Society of Hong Kong.
Karen specializes in complex cross-border corporate and commercial litigation, international arbitration, banking and finance, white-collar crime, and regulatory matters. In addition to advising state-owned enterprises and multinational clients, she also advises high-net-worth individuals and families on a wide range of disputes, including contentious probate litigation and matrimonial proceedings.
Karen began her legal career as a barrister before practising as a solicitor. She regularly represents clients in Hong Kong court proceedings and assists clients in managing arbitrations and court proceedings across Asia, Australasia, and Europe. Karen’s arbitration experience includes HKIAC, ICC, CIETAC, LMAA, and ad hoc arbitrations. Karen is both a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators.
Karen received the accolade of “Asia Super 50 Disputes Lawyers” in 2022 from Asian Legal Business’ (ALB), which profiles 50 of the most outstanding dispute lawyers in Asia with respect to client service. She is praised for being “professional, efficient” and “for giving clients the confidence that they are being represented in the best possible manner” (ALB 2022). Karen was recognized as one of the top ten most influential lawyers under 40 by Hong Kong Business Magazine. She was also acknowledged as one of the “Asia 40 UNDER 40” by LexisNexis, a recognition of the top 40 lawyers under 40 in the Asia Pacific region.
Karen actively engages in community engagement. She is the co-founder cum Vice Chair of the Greater Bay Area Union and serves as the Vice Chair of the Hong Kong and Mainland Legal Profession Association, a Member of China Development Sub-committee of the Hong Kong Trustees’ Association, and a Board member of the Guangzhou Cooperative Development Center for GBA Nonprofits.
Trilingual in English, Putonghua, and Cantonese, Karen is also qualified as a lawyer in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and as a Foreign Registered Lawyer in England and Wales. She is also appointed by the Ministry of Justice of the PRC as a China Appointed-Attesting Officer.
