Global, sector-focused law firm HFW has continued the growth of its international insurance practice and its Asia Pacific offering, with the hire of insurance disputes expert Sinyee Ong in Singapore.
Sinyee, who joins HFW as a Legal Director, has more than a decade of experience advising clients on insurance, construction and commercial disputes across a wide spectrum of industries, including hospitality, energy/power, pharmaceuticals, real estate and trading. She joins HFW from Chua and Partners on 17 March 2025.
HFW’s market-leading global insurance and reinsurance practice now comprises 19 partners and more than 65 lawyers in total across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.

Sinyee’s expertise includes acting on international commercial arbitration proceedings under various arbitration rules – including ICC, SIAC and UNCITRAL. She has worked throughout Asia Pacific, the Middle East and North America, and is qualified in New York, Singapore, England & Wales and Western Australia.

Sinyee’s hire continues a period of sustained expansion for HFW globally that has made it one of the fastest-growing law firms in the market. HFW has added more than 50 new partners since the beginning of FY23, including team and partner hires in Hong Kong, Kuwait City, London, Melbourne, Paris, Perth, Piraeus, Riyadh, Singapore and Sydney.
The firm’s Singapore office, which opened more than 35 years ago, has almost 40 lawyers and 70 people in total, working as part of an Asia Pacific team of 64 partners and 280 lawyers in total. Globally, the firm has 185 partners and more than 750 lawyers in total.
